The London Waste and Recycling Board was established by the GLA Act 2007 to promote and encourage the production of less waste, an increase in the proportion of waste that is re-used or recycled and the use of methods of collection, treatment and disposal of waste which are more beneficial to the environment in London.

Programme funding available to LWARB for the period to March 31 2015 is c. £22.5 million. This comprises grant funding from Defra and interest earned on waste infrastructure investments. LWARB has continued to make internal efficiencies and savings so that as much funding as possible can be put into delivering programmes.

LWARB has considered the services it should provide in order to deliver its strategy. Those services it intends to pursue over the next financial year are broken down into three principal areas:

1. Tailored Infrastructure Investment Fund

2. Efficiencies Programme

3. Continued delivery of existing commitments
